    About Broughton Brook

This park follows the Broughton Brook and it offers local residents an attractive and quiet place to escape into greenspace.

At Broughton next to Southwold Crescent there is a popular children's play area, with another located at Kidderminster Walk. The iconic cable-stayed bridge at Tanfield Lane, Broughton, spans the brook and has been built to accommodate the proposed Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterway, which would follow the Broughton Brook if constructed.

St Lawrence Church, dating from the 14th century, sits on the edge of the park’s north-east boundary and is worth a visit for its wall paintings, hidden until a restoration in 1849. Covering large parts of the church’s north and south walls the murals include a depiction of St. George slaying the dragon.

At the north end Broughton Brook Park, you'll find Atterbury Park which has areas of ponds and wet woodland set aside for wildlife. Timber boardwalks are provided to allow visitors close access to the wetland habitats.

    Facilities

There are no public toilets at this park. The closest toilets are at MK Coachway Park and Ride which are approximately a 20 minute walk away. There isn't a dedicated car park for Broughton Brook, however you can park in the carpark next to Brookland Fields Primary School, Shackerstone Close.

    • Atterbury Park

Atterbury is an interesting area of parkland that sits adjacent to the Broughton Brook linear park. With footpaths throughout it is a great place to visit as part of a wider exploration of the linear parks.

    • Broughton Brook Magna Park

Broughton Brook park is an area of parkland bordering the Magna Park industrial estate. We have recently taken over management of a section of attractive parkland off the Erwood roundabout, with plans to take over further areas in future.

    • Brooklands Meadow Park

While The Parks Trust maintains Brooklands Meadow Park it is not yet officially our land and is currently owned by Places for People. A modern, well thought out flood retention site with a dam structure, it ensures the surrounding houses don’t flood in times of heavy rain. As the area develops, there are plans for this park to link up with the other linear parks nearby.
